The Musicians’ Company, recently awarded Daniel the Young Jazz Musician Award 2016-2017 which spurred him on to recording his forthcoming Album ‘Escapee’ which is coming out on the jazz re:freshed imprint in April.

London-based saxophonist and composer, Nubya Garcia, is one of the leading forces behind the resurgence of jazz-influenced sounds in the UK. Raised in a creative environment built by a set of Caribbean parents, her brand of afro-tinged Jazz has made her a key component in a string of new and established groups

ASHLEY HENRY

Ashley Henry is one of a new generation of musicians that have been raised with a wide range of influences from Kirkland, Glasper,  Moran, Madlib and Dilla to the sounds of traditional masters like Hancock and Monk.  At only 24 Ashley plays the piano with a beauty and sensitivity that usually comes form a lifetime immersed in jazz and this has been picked up on by other musicians – after studying at Leeds College of Music and The Royal Academy,  he’s toured the UK and internationally, made it to the finals of the Unisa International Piano Competition in South Africa, was youngest on the bill for the 2015 Piano Trio Festival at Ronnie Scott’s

JEAN TOUSSAINT ROOTS AND HERBS

To commermorate the life of the great Art Blakey 25 years after his passing, Jean Toussaint has organised a project he has called Roots and Herbs. Roots and Herbs features an All-Star lineup of british jazz musicians to explore the music of the legendary bandleader and some of his illustrious messengers.

CAMILLA GEORGE

Camilla George launches her album Isang, a celebration of the jazz tradition from its African roots through to its modern forms. Camilla has handpicked an exciting new quartet to join her on her new album release, showcasing some of London’s finest young players.
